Gardon Construction Offers Superior Workmanship

Gardon Construction Ltd., was responsible for the building of Holy Spirit Credit Union's new North End office.  According to project co-ordinator Jeff Olafson, the work was rewarding if occasionally challenging from a logistical standpoint.

Awarded the contract against 10 other construction firms, Gardon set about following the sometimes complex design plans that would not only set Holy Spirit apart from other banking institutions, but would also compliment and support the Maples community.

Olafson recognizes the need for a neighbourhood credit union.

"The opening of Holy Spirit provides the community with a new central banking option so that people can do their banking in close proximity to their homes without having to go out of their way."

Gardon began construction at the Jefferson/Adsum site in late March of this year, anticipating a seven-month job.  They were finished a month ahead of schedule, Aug. 31, allowing for the Sept. 1 opening.  Olafson says a primary reason for the early completion was the total co-operation of the owner and trade contractors.

"Holy Spirit Credit Union was involved in the project from ground-breaking to completion," Olafson says.  "Holy Spirit Credit Union wanted the best for customers and worked extremely hard to see it done right."

Prior to the final architectural design of the building, staff members at Holy Spirit were consulted for their input, making the construction a truly co-operative effort.  Plans in hand, Gardon Construction embarked on making this collaborative vision a reality.

"Merging the circular design of the atrium, which is the focal point of the facility, into the oter components was the most challenging aspect of the construction," says Olafson.  But the final result, overseen by site supervisor Richard Grewe, stands as testimony to the superior workmanship offered by Gardon's construction crew and trade contractors.

Owned by compnay president Gary Johnson, Gardon Construction Ltd. has been in business since 1984 and prides itself on its year-round commercial building services.
